Don't Choose Style Over Substance; Be Good to Your Feet by Jane Hataya http://www.shoesq.com Few people take good care of their feet. Instead, they often ignore medical advice about shoes in favor of looks. The feet take a lot of stress. They are one of the most resilient parts of the body. When you walk, your feet are under enormous strain. They carry half of your body weight every time you stand or walk. They also have more extreme temperatures to deal with than the rest of your body, as they are on the ground instead of up in the air. Considering all the above, whoever invented the shoes surely had one of the greatest idea of mankind. One just cannot picture our modern and high technology world without shoes. Only a few barefoot steps on the girded sidewalk in the hottest summer afternoon would be enough to give one an idea of the amount of trouble the shoes had speared us from. While the first shoes, which were actually sandals, were a matter of function, today's shoes are more artful. People no longer expect their shoes to provide comfort. People who work in trades like construction or mining will find boots intended to protect the feet. Everyone else, though, probably buys shoes based on their looks. In fact, some models of women's shoes may cause more harm than they prevent. A simple trip to the shoe store reveals the large number of shoes available. Most people will try on quite a few pairs before they make a decision. Rarely is this decision because they've been informed about the safety of a certain brand. Instead, people look to the trends, ignoring the screaming their feet do every time they walk across a room or come home from a long day. But one cannot throw all the blame on fashion magazines, as if women had not had the strong desire to look taller and thinner, high- heels would have probably never come into fashion. Anyway, can anybody blame a woman that wears high- heels? These shoes are, after all, the simplest, quickest and maybe most efficient beauty treatment. The only negative aspect is the fact that some exaggerate, therefore quite a considerable number of elderly women have got used to wearing high- heels to a such extent, that even their slippers are at least thee inches high, all this because they simply cannot place their entire foot on the ground. While you want comfort, you can't simply wear slippers to work because they're comfortable. You can rarely wear running or other athletic shoes to work. Still, you can find attractive shoes within the confines of an office dress code or party attire. Just pay a little more attention when you're out shopping for shoes. Instead of buying based on looks, refuse to buy if shoes are uncomfortable. Try them on. Walk around. If they don't feel good, don't get them. You should make sure that you have everyday shoes for errands and fun outings as well. Don't wear heels on these types of days. While you may ignore your feet, you won't be able to if you don't take care of them. Your shoes will be difficult to wear. You'll find yourself unable to walk, at least without pain. There are millions of shoes out there. Pick some that feel good. |
